Ranbir Kapoor has finally answered the question about his rumoured involvement in Dhoom 4. The actor got into the fray over the rumors as he went to San Diego Comic-Con to promote Ramayana, when he was questioned about the new projects associated with his name. Although it had been reported that he would be the lead in the fourth film in Yash Raj Films’ hugely successful action series, Ranbir has confirmed that he is currently working on Ramayana and Love & War directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. HIs words have now put an end to one of Bollywood’s hottest casting speculations, Yash Raj Films is yet to officially confirm the cast for Dhoom 4 or reveal the film.
It is interesting how the interviewer at San Diego ComicCon explicitly connected Dhoom 4 with Ranbir and he was quick on correcting it. He is currently writing Ramayana and Love & War, which are directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. This is important as the actor’s name has been linked with the fourth Dhoom film in the last few years. Fans had been talking about the issue for quite a while and many had anticipated that the next big name in the movie would be Ranbir Kapoor. But his latest comment is clear that Dhoom 4 is not part of his current line up.
The reports on Ranbir’s association with Dhoom 4 had been around for quite some time. Various times the suggestion was put forward that he would be the central antagonist in the next chapter of the movie. Even rumors of his appearance and masquerade for the part circulated. But none of those reports came with an official casting announcement from Yash Raj Films. According to another report by Bollywood Hungama, after discussions regarding the script, Ranbir decided to walk away from the project, whereas trade sources quoted by the site stated that they were still developing the film’s script and finalising the casting process.
So far it looks like Ranbir Kapoor has two big projects in mind. Nitesh Tiwari plays Lord Rama in his Ramayana and another actor, Yash plays Ravana. The other one is Love & War, which is being directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and also features Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. These two films were explicitly mentioned by Ranbir while speaking about his work at ComicCon. Remarkably, he didn’t mention Animal Park, the long-awaited sequel of his Animal film from 2023, while talking about the upcoming films.
The new update also means that fans will have to wait longer for clarity regarding the future of Dhoom 4. The Dhoom franchise started with Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra in 2004 with actor John Abraham as the villain. Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan were later paired with each other in Dhoom 2, and Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif in Dhoom 3. Though people have been waiting for several years for the next addition, Yash Raj Films has not yet announced the fourth film, the director and the cast. Ranbir’s recent words now remove his name from the list of current speculation but do not necessarily mean that he can be the next chapter’s leader.
As now Ranbir Kapoor himself has mentioned that he is busy working on Ramayana and Love & War, the rumor that he will appear in Dhoom 4 has been finally quashed. The actor had been linked to the project for a long time without official word from YRF, so his clarification comes as a welcome relief. For now, fans of his can anticipate the release of his next projects, while those looking for his future cast and plot of Dhoom 4 are yet to be officially confirmed.
