Alpha is a Hindi action thriller and the seventh film in the massive YRF Spy Universe. Shiv Rawail called the shots behind the camera, while Soumil Shukla and Shridhar Raghavan wrote the screenplay. Ishita Moitra penned the dialogues and Uday Chopra came up with the story. The movie was originally slated for a Christmas 2025 release, but production delays pushed it to 3 July 2026. Aditya Chopra bankrolled it under Yash Raj Films, with Akshaye Widhani chipping in as co-producer. The budget is hefty, which makes sense given the global locations, the action sequences, and the big names attached. The film carries a U/A 16+ rating.

Shiv Rawail took the director’s seat for his first feature film, after making waves with the Netflix series The Railway Men. That was a gutsy call. The YRF Spy Universe is famous for its high-octane action and star power — think Pathaan, Tiger, War. Rawail could have played it safe. Instead, he made India’s first female-led spy spectacle and cranked the intensity way up.

    Alpha Movie Overview

This Hindi action thriller lands in theatres on 3 July 2026. Shiv Rawail directs this chapter of the YRF Spy Universe. The story tracks a highly trained assassin named Sita who was raised in isolation as a super-soldier by a rogue commander. When she discovers the dark truth about her family and her stolen childhood, she teams up with her long-lost sister to take down her creator and his shady military program. Yash Raj Films produced it. Alia Bhatt and Sharvari lead the pack. Fans were thrilled to see two women headlining a spy film for the first time in this universe. The first half sets up Sita’s brutal upbringing and the mission. Then everything goes haywire once she realizes she has a sister out there and the man who made her is not who he seems.

    Alpha Movie Cast and Crew

The film revolves around a girl who was basically built to kill. Sita was raised by a rogue colonel, Fateh Singh Lakhawat, who runs a secret military program. She thinks she is just a weapon with no past. But then she finds out she has a sister, Durga, and that her whole life was a lie. What starts as a solo revenge mission quickly turns into a sisterhood as the two women join forces to bring down the man who created them.

Alia Bhatt headlines the film as Sita, and she is in nearly every frame. Sharvari teams up with her as Durga, the long-lost sister. Anil Kapoor plays Colonel Vikrant Kaul, the chief of R&AW. Bobby Deol is the main villain, Colonel Fateh Singh Lakhawat, the man who raised Sita. Dia Mirza makes a crucial special appearance as Janaki Kaul, the mother. Dibyendu Bhattacharya plays Dr. John Varghese. Hrithik Roshan shows up in an extended cameo as Kabir Dhaliwal, linking this film to the rest of the spy universe. The rest of the cast fills in the military and spy world around them.

Behind the camera, Shiv Rawail directed. Rubais shot the film. Aarif Sheikh handled the editing. The music comes from Rohansh & Abeer, with lyrics by Kumaar, Anvitaa Dutt, Kausar Munir, and the composers themselves. Sanchit Balhara and Ankit Balhara composed the background score. Craig Macrae and Sunil Rodrigues choreographed the action. A lot of work went into making the fight scenes look raw and brutal, with Alia and Sharvari doing most of their own stunts after months of training.

    Alpha Movie Storyline and Plot

Sita never meant to find a sister. She was simply trying to survive as the perfect killing machine her creator made her to be. Things went south fast. The first half brings you face-to-face with her brutal training, her isolation, and the missions she carries out without question. You watch her fight, obey, and bury any emotion. Then she discovers the truth about her family, and the real madness kicks in.

    Alpha Movie Storyline and Plot

What makes Alpha different is that it is not just one hero pulling everyone out. It is two women who were torn apart as children and now have to trust each other with their lives. The spy world becomes a dangerous maze — betrayals, secret programs, and a nemesis who knows every move they might make. The second half gains momentum. Traps snap shut. Plans crumble. There are moments when you honestly fear they might not get out.

The film does not give them easy ways out. They fight. They bleed. You feel the tension rising. The climax hits hard, and it stays action-packed instead of morphing into a slow drama. By the end, you know these two survived only because they had each other’s backs — just barely.

    Alpha Movie Budget

The makers have not put out an exact number. Still, the film has the gloss that YRF is known for. The global locations, the action scenes, the massive cast — everything points to serious money spent. The music launch, the promotions, the wide theatrical release — nothing was skimped on. The budget is thought to be on the higher side, which was enough to do the job properly.

    Final Word

Alpha is a 2026 Hindi action thriller. Shiv Rawail directed this franchise entry. Alia Bhatt and Sharvari steer a female-led spy spectacle through a brutal world of secrets and revenge. It drops on 3 July 2026. Rohansh & Abeer worked on the music. Action lovers have plenty to soak in. Spy fans get their dose of universe-building, too. The fights keep flying. The tension never lets up. The spy world keeps you guessing. Catch it on the big screen if you can, or wait for the streaming release.
