Hanuman Ansh is a Hindi film of a biographical drama based on Neem Karoli Baba and his philosophy of devotion, love, compassion and service. The film does not present a traditional epic-sized mythological show, but an intimate look at the life of the saint. His devotion to Lord Hanuman is interwoven in the story and is a message of service to human beings. The director of the film, Vishal Chaturvedi, had been towing the story for almost two decades and Shobhinaw Satyaa was an assistant director on the film before eventually becoming the lead actor, India Today reported. The film premiered in theaters in India on August 7, 2026, but seemed like a niche film. But word of mouth was a great help to finding it a much bigger audience.

Hanuman Ansh is the first devotional biographical drama to execute a theatrical comeback and become a huge sleeper hit purely due to word of mouth on social media. The movie had earned a paltry ₹1.28 crore in the first week and then dipped to ₹0.48cr in the second week, and then had an unprecedented comeback. It saw collections more than tripling to cross ₹12.24 crore by its third week and then grossed a whopping ₹72.00 crore in its fourth week – one of the highest fourth-week gross collections in Bollywood history.
The film has collected a remarkable India Net of ₹82.88 crore and India Gross of ₹97.77 crore as of Day 29 (September 4, 2026). Despite strong competition from the big-budget films, it still has an estimated ₹11.77 crore gross to its domestic collection in its fifth week in theatres.
The Worldwide Gross is exactly ₹97.77 crore, which matches with its domestic performance. As the movie’s official international theatrical release by Hombale Films is set for September 11, 2026, no overseas box office receipts have yet been released, so the movie’s total can easily move up a lot in the coming weeks.
Final Thoughts
Hanuman Ansh is one of the biggest box office surprise comebacks of 2026. It has been a rather odd theatrical run for a movie that began its journey from an opening day figure of just ₹0.10 crore to a reported India collection of nearly ₹90 crore. The success of the film is proof that audience word of mouth can get you a lot, particularly when the film appeals to a certain target. It’s a very good fourth week in the making of a small-budgeted spiritual drama into a big commercial surprise. The numbers in the world and the final total lifetime collection will be updated as time passes but Hanuman Ansh has already become a sleeper hit of the year.
